VBS 2010 | High Seas ExpeditionSS. Peter & Paul hosted our annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) for our youngest parishioners and their friends in two separate but concurrent weeklong sessions to better accommodate our parish youth, their friends and families.

Week One: June 14 - 18, 2010
(9:30 AM - 1:00 PM)
or
Week Two: June 21 - 25, 2010
(9:30 AM - 1:00 PM)

At VBS preschoolers through sixth graders gained a new enthusiasm for our Catholic faith as they engaged in fun-filled, theme-based, spiritual activities. Besides having fun, the intent of VBS is to lead children closer to Jesus Christ through concentrated Bible study, the singing of contemporary liturgical music, and putting their faith into action through the completion of a meaningful service project.

Let's Go! VBS 2010 - High Seas Expedition: Exploring the Mighty Love of God - helped children experience the deep, rolling waters of God's love.

At High Seas Expedition, the kids began each VBS day in the church for opening prayer and to learn the day’s Bible verse before heading off to their first activity. Over the next 3.5 hours they engaged in outdoor games, music, crafts, Bible study, and the ever-popular Chadder’s Theater starring a lovable, mischievous chipmunk – all fueled by a delicious but nutritious lunch served by our dedicated, volunteer kitchen staff in the Social Hall.

This year’s service project supported Operation Kid-to-KidTM, an organization that serves needy children around the world by gifting items made by kids for kids. The children helped demonstrate how God’s Word Is Comforting! by tying God loves me! blankets to be sent to needy children in Uganda.

The last day of VBS is traditionally reserved as “Friday Fun Day!” Participants rotated between stations that included carnival-style games, face painting, a cupcake walk, and an inflatable bounce house and obstacle course. They returned with friends and family in the early evening for a prayer service and music program, where the children performed songs learned throughout the week accompanied by a live (rocking!) band.

Mark your calendars now for VBS 2011!

Week One: June 13 - 17, 2011
(9:30 AM - 1:00 PM)
