2009 6th Grade Retreat

Faith First

Children in grades 1 - 6 follow the Faith First program, which is a traditional faith formation program committed to sharing the richness of our faith and building family values. Each weekly session includes stories, activities, scripture, prayer, discussion and reflection. In the course of the school year, each grade level participates in a service project. We hope to nurture our church community through those members of its body - our youth and their families.

Parents are always welcome to attend any or all sessions with the children. Moreover, the Faith First website offers interactive and supplemental materials for the family.

Classes

Faith Formation classes for Grades 1 - 6 run late September through early May. Registration is required. Classes are offered on the following days and times:

  • Monday 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM
  • Tuesday 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM
  • Wednesday 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM
  • Wednesday 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Select a class in the right-hand Forms bar to see a Calendar of weekly activities and dates classes are (and are not) in session.

Sacraments

The sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation are celebrated at the end of the 2nd grade. Sacramental preparation begins in the 1st grade and enrollment in Faith Formation is required during both years of this two-year preparation period.

Service Projects and Retreats

In preparation to receive the sacraments, to revisit the sacraments after they have been celebrated, or to live out their faith by putting it into action, faith formation students in Grades 1 - 6 participate in a number of service projects and retreats at various grade levels. Select a Grade in the right-hand Section Navigation bar to learn more about the themes studied, service projects, and retreat opportunities available at each grade level.

Volunteer

Faith sharing is life sharing! All classes are taught by volunteers. We are always looking for men and women willing to donate their gift of time and faith. Please consider the possibility of teaching in our program. Training in the Faith First program and ongoing support is provided. If you are unable to donate an hour a week, there are many other opportunities to assist with other, short-term sessions. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, Contact Us or submit the following.
