Preschool and Kindergarten kids aged 3 - 5 love to go to religious education classes just like the big kids. SS. Peter & Paul offers Preschool and Kindergarten classes during the 8:30 AM, 10:00 AM and 5:15 PM Sunday Masses. The classes help children develop a positive attitude about themselves by discovering the many gifts and abilities that God has provided them. They also help children develop their relationship with Jesus, become aware of liturgical seasons, and cultivate Christian attitudes, such as listening, helping, caring, loving, sharing, thanking and celebrating. The program is designed to support parents in educating their children about the Catholic faith and to create a strong foundation for future Faith Formation.
Preschool and Kindergarten classes run September through early May. Registration is required. Select a class in the right-hand Section Navigation bar to see a Calendar of weekly activities and dates classes are not in session.
Following a structured curriculum, catechists (volunteer parishioners) greet newly arriving children and lead them in fun and engaging welcoming activities. The children then gather in a circle to hear the story or lesson for the day. The lesson may be followed by crafts, snack, or music. The lesson is continually reinforced until Mass is over and the children are picked up. At the end of the year, the children perform songs learned throughout the year for parishioners at a Sunday 10:00 AM Mass. Every year, children in the Preschool and Kindergarten program participate in a meaningful Service Project.
Volunteer
Volunteers are always needed. If you are interested in sharing yourself with the children in this program, Contact Us or submit the following. You can make a weekly or bi-weekly commitment to lead, co-lead or aide in a class. You do not need to have a child in the program to volunteer. Training in the I Am Special (Preschool) and Faith First (Kindergarten) programs and materials will be provided.
